The Shop offers a beautiful array of locally-made works in various price ranges, from striking fine art to charming gifts. Work for sale may include visual arts (painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, and digital art), fabric and textiles, clothing and accessories, jewelry, and handcrafted items (sculpture, ceramics, glass, woodworking, and more). All artists who make their own items are encouraged to apply.
The Museum Shop has an annual application for artists who would like to sell their work via consignment in the Shop. There is a 60/40 split for all consignment sales, where the Artist receives 60% and the MMFA receives 40%. All proceeds go to benefit the Shop and local artist programming. Shop Consignment Contracts are from January through the end of December. In addition to replenishing inventory after sales, several inventory swaps are scheduled by the Museum Shop manager to ensure a wide range of inventory available in the Shop throughout the year.
Pop-ups are short-term, temporary events that take place during certain holidays or seasons. The MMFA hosts a series of Popups during the year. This year's Holiday Popup will be held on Friday, December 1, from 4 to 8 PM. This event is a great way for local artists to sell their holiday or winter-themed works before the end of the year. While your work does not have to be holiday-themed to make it into this Popup event, the blind jury will give preference to examples of work that fits the theme of the season.
The Museum does not take a percentage of Popup events; artists are expected to have a business license and process all sales.
The Museum Shop is a fine arts and fine crafts establishment. The blind jury, composed of artists, community leaders, and City of Montgomery employees, seeks artists and artisans who are accomplished in their medium, who are original and exciting in their ideas, and who will be an asset to the market overall. Originality and workmanship are highly favored, especially in over-represented categories such as jewelry.
The following dates are for both the Popup and the Museum Shop 2024
